Meath County Council invites applications from suitably qualified persons who wish to be considered for inclusion on a panel from which permanent & fixed-term contract vacancies for the position of Assistant Scientist shall be drawn.
The Assistant Scientist will work as part of multi-disciplinary teams within the Environment Department of Meath County Council.
The role requires good knowledge and understanding of the Waste Management Act 1996, as amended, and the Local Government (Water Pollution) Act 1977-1990, as amended, the Water Framework Directive, Noitrates Directive and the Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) Regs and the associated enforcement obligations of a Local Authority.
The Assistant Scientist shall operate under the direction of and report to the Executive Scientist and must undertake those duties as assigned to them by their Supervisor. The Assistant Scientist shall also report to the Senior Executive Scientist / Senior Executive Engineer / Senior Engineer of the section to which they are assigned or any other person designated by the Director of Service.
The role requires flexibility in terms of working hours as the duties may involve working outside of normal office hours, as required.
