Job Summary

The Position
The Council is seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates with relevant experience for the position of Administrative Officer.
It is proposed to form a panel of qualified candidates from which vacancies both permanent and temporary will be filled during the lifetime of the panel.
The Administrative Officer will be responsible for the efficient running of the section to which the office holder is assigned. The post holder will operate within defined parameters relevant to the position, in accordance with the Council’s goals.
The post holder will be directly accountable for the work of the staff reporting to them. The post holder will be expected to provide effective leadership for all of the staff within their area of responsibility.
The Administrative Officer will be expected to work closely with colleagues to ensure that the activities of the Council are effectively coordinated and delivered.
The Administrative Officer will contribute actively to developing and implementing policy.
The positions are in various sections of the organisation, the duties will vary depending on assignment.
 

Roles Duties & Responsibilities
The Administrative Officer responsibilities are set out below:
To identify and agree work programmes, targets and deadlines and to ensure their subsequent implementation.
To manage and supervise staff.
To build effective teams, develop motivation and commitment.
To implement the systems necessary to support the service. This includes systems to manage finance and budgets and ensure value for money, to provide information on the pattern of demand and activity, to schedule and programme work, etc.
To undertake any other duties of a similar level and responsibility as may be required from time to time.
A satisfactory competence in the Irish language is deemed desirable and beneficial in relation to any vacancy within the Glenties Municipal District. An assessment of this competence may be carried out as part of the recruitment and selection process
