The Graduate Engineer (Mechanical) may be assigned to the Mechanical Section in the Environment, Water and Climate Change (EWCC) Directorate or be assigned to another section or directorate within SDCC. They will work within an engineering team with a view to gaining practical experience in the management of the Council Mechanical Fleet and maintenance of the Pumping Stations. South Dublin County Council operates a fleet of approximately 250 vehicles.
The Mechanical Section is responsible for the sustainable, efficient and cost-effective management of the 2 council fleet and stormwater pumping station sites. A key part of the operations is the implementation of the fleet decarbonisation and renewal strategy, with a focus on energy efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions in line with national climate action targets.
The post is wholetime, temporary and pensionable. The contract is for a fixed term of three years. Offers will be made subject to the candidate submitting, to the satisfaction of the Council, evidence of holding an honours degree (level eight or higher in the National Framework of Qualifications) prior to taking up duty. Persons employed will be required to work in any location within the South Dublin administrative area.
